Orlando Financial Advisor Earns National Recognition for Philanthropy
We are excited to announce that Bruce Woodruff is one of three national finalists for the Lifetime Achievement Award in the 18th Annual Invest in Others Awards for his philanthropic contributions to La Amistad Foundation dba Lakewood Center!
The Invest in Others Awards recognizes the charitable work of financial advisors in communities across the country and around the world.
Invest in Others received hundreds of nominations this year and finalists were selected based on their leadership, dedication, contribution, inspiration, and impact on a nonprofit and the community it serves. Nominations were blindly reviewed by a diverse panel of leaders in the financial services industry.
Bruce has been on the board of La Amistad for more than 40 years. La Amistad Foundation dba Lakewood Center seeks to enhance the quality of life for adults with chronic mental health illness by maintaining a community in which these individuals can live with dignity and independence as they pursue leisure activities, social relationships and meaningful work. The residential health facility houses 50 individuals providing psychoeducation, medication management, therapeutic work, art therapy, and animal assisted therapy.
Motivated by making a difference for the mental health community in Fern Park, Florida, Bruce donates his time and resources to fundraising, board development and mentoring La Amistad staff members. Bruce grew the organization’s annual Tennis fundraiser, bringing new donors to the event and getting non-tennis players to write checks for the cause. Bruce has successfully fundraised hundreds of thousands of dollars for the La Amistad Foundation over his four decades of service, allowing the organization to enhance the life of chronically mentally ill residents housed at the organization.
The Invest in Others Awards will be presented on September 19 in Boston in the following categories: Catalyst, Community Service, Emerging Impact, Lifetime Achievement, and Volunteer of the Year.

“Nominees must be currently working as registered representatives, registered investment advisors, or financial advisors with a professional designation. Nominees must be active financial advisors, defined by spending at least 75% of their time providing financial consultation with clients. Nominees must have worked in this capacity for at least three years. Volunteer involvement with the nonprofit organization must be current and ongoing for at least three years.
